Description

The NavBeacon Addon provides 3DRAD game developers with the ability to quickly and easily add a navigational marker beacon to their game scenery. While it is initially intended for use with the upcoming Single Engine Light Airplane, this addon can easily be adapted for use with any vehicle or moving object in 3D RAD that needs to know what direction to head to in order to reach it.

Minimum requirements

Usage

Simply select Project/Addons from the 3DRAD Editor menu, then select NavBeacon_mkx from the Architecture folder. Once the addon is loaded, select the NAVBEACON_mkx Group object and place the beacon where you want.

Next, link the following objects in the following order (important)

FOR USE WITH AIRCRAFT 1- FIRST link the NDBLOGIC script to the Aircraft RIGIDBODY of the plane you wish to use the beacon with. 2- SECOND link the NDBLOGIC script to the Airplane's LOGIC Script of the plane you wish to use the beacon with. 3- THIRD link the NDB RIGIDBODY object with the Airplane's Rigidbody if collisions are desired. 4- FOURTH move the NDB READOUT to where you want it on the screen.

FOR USE WITH OTHER VEHICLES 1- FIRST link the NDBLOGIC script to the Vehicles RIGIDBODY of the plane you wish to use the beacon with. 2- SECOND link the NDBLOGIC script to the script of the vehicle you wish to use the beacon with. If it doesn't have a script, add one. The script should have its VAL_3 set to 1 to activate the NavigationBeacon. 3- THIRD link the NDB RIGIDBODY object with the vehicle's Rigidbody if collisions are desired. 4- FOURTH move the NDB READOUT to where you want it on the screen.

OPTIONAL You may add more than one NavBeacon to any scene, and be able to track towards each one. Just follow the instructions above for each one.

Be sure to change the screen position of the NDB READOUTs so that they don't overlapp

You may open up the NDB LOGIC Script and change the name of the NavBeacon NAME string from the default "NDB 01" to any name you wish, so that each NavBeacon can be uniquely identified.

THAT'S ALL FOLKS

The NavBeacon is ready to use in your program. Press the Tilde Key to display the NDB READOUT which will display the course you need to take to reach the beacon.

Programmers and Scripters can modify the code for their individual usage (more on this at a later date)
